Set in a surreal world between artificiality and pop culture, The Fan Manifest follows a manic fan who has devoted their entire life to the band Penny Hunters.
What begins as innocent admiration gradually unfolds into a disturbing dependency, driven by parasocial closeness, consumer pressure and the desperate desire to belong.
Visually, the film shifts between hyperreal fan culture and uncannily lifeless depictions of the band members, blank stares, rigid expressions and faceless presence reflect an industry in which artists are reduced to surfaces for projection. At the same time, fans lose themselves in ecstatic collective frenzy, dissolving into noise, movement, and mass identity.
The Fan Manifest is a dystopian portrait of extreme fan loyalty, a reflection on the limits of devotion, the commodification of intimacy, and the blurring boundaries between idol and admirer.
